Solvent dynamics: Modified Rice–Ramsperger–Kassel–Marcus theory. II. Vibrationally assisted case
نویسنده
چکیده
Expressions are given for a solvent dynamics-modified Rice–Ramsperger–Kassel–Marcus ~RRKM! theory for clusters. The role of vibrational assistance across the transition state region is included. The usual differential equation for motion along the slow coordinate X in constant temperature systems is modified so as to apply to microcanonical systems. A negative entropy term, 2Sv(X), replaces the (1/T)]U/]X or (1/T)]G/]X which appears in canonical systems. Expressions are obtained for the RRKM-type rate constant k(X) and for the Sv(X) which appear in the differential equation. An approximate solution for steady-state conditions is given for the case that the ‘‘reaction window’’ is narrow. The solution then takes on a simple functional form. The validity of the assumption can be checked a posteriori. Recrossings of the transition state are included and the condition under which the treatment approaches that in Part I is described. © 1996 American Institute of Physics. @S0021-9606~96!51137-2#

Coriolis coupling as a source of non-RRKM effects in ozone molecule: Lifetime statistics of vibrationally excited ozone molecules.
A theory that describes the non-RRKM (non-Rice-Ramsperger-Kassel-Marcus) effects in the lifetime statistics of activated ozone molecules is derived. The non-RRKM effects are shown to originate due to the diffusive energy exchange between vibrational and rotational degrees of freedom in ozone molecule. The lifetime statistics is found to be intramolecular diffusion controlled at long times. The ...
متن کاملOn the theory of the reaction rate of vibrationally excited CO molecules with OH radicals.
The dependence of the rate of the reaction CO+OH-->H+CO2 on the CO-vibrational excitation is treated here theoretically. Both the Rice-Ramsperger-Kassel-Marcus (RRKM) rate constant kRRKM and a nonstatistical modification knon [W.-C. Chen and R. A. Marcus, J. Chem. Phys. 123, 094307 (2005).] are used in the analysis. The experimentally measured rate constant shows an apparent (large error bars) ...
متن کاملAnharmonic Rice-Ramsperger-Kassel-Marcus (RRKM) and product branching ratio calculations for the partially deuterated protonated water dimers: dissociation and isomerization.
Partially deuterated protonated water dimers, H2O·H(+)·D2O, H2O·D(+)·HDO, and HDO·H(+)·HDO, as important intermediates of isotopic labeled reaction of H3O(+) + D2O, undergo direct dissociation and indirect dissociation, i.e., isomerization before the dissociation. With Rice-Ramsperger-Kassel-Marcus theory and ab initio calculations, we have computed their dissociation and isomerization rate con...
متن کاملCompetition between concerted and stepwise dynamics in the triplet di-π-methane rearrangement.
The molecular dynamics of the triplet-state Zimmerman di-π-methane rearrangement of dibenzobarrelene were computed with B3LYP and M06-2X density functionals. All productive quasiclassical trajectories involve sequential formation and cleavage of C-C bonds and an intermediate with lifetimes ranging from 13 to 1160 fs. Both dynamically concerted and stepwise trajectories are found. The average li...
متن کاملBenzyl Radical Photodissociation Dynamics at 248 nm.
The photodissociation of jet cooled benzyl radicals, C7H7, at 248 nm has been studied using photofragment translational spectroscopy. Two dissociation channels were observed, H + C7H6 and CH3 + C6H4. The translational energy distribution determined for each channel suggests that both dissociation mechanisms occur via internal conversion to the ground state followed by intramolecular vibrational...
